Ways to help

Teen Summer Camp Volunteers

Enthusiastic, responsible teens who enjoy working with young children, learning about nature, and being outside can volunteer with our Unity in Learning Summer Camps. Summer Camp Volunteers assist our Summer Camp Educators with their group of campers throughout the day by leading games, helping with crafts, and supervising lunchtime activities. Preference is given to teens available 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday, and to those in 9th grade and up. Ideally, volunteers will be able to work at a minimum of two weeks of summer camp. Volunteers can choose to do their service at Leslie Science & Nature Center or Yankee Air Museum in Belleville.

Adult Volunteers

We welcome adult volunteers to help care for our resident wildlife, including our birds of prey and other live animals in the Critter House. Volunteers are critical to the success of the health and welfare of the animals here at LSNC, by regularly feeding, cleaning and providing enrichment. In addition, adult volunteers have an opportunity to assist with our preschool programs, and participate in a variety of special programs.
