Administrative Coordinator for
Hired In Michigan Community Empowerment
- Responsibilities: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the magazine, coordinate meetings, manage volunteer schedules, and handle correspondence.
- Requirements: Strong organizational skills, experience in administrative roles, and excellent communication skills.
- Commitment: 6 months, with an expected workload of 3-5 hours per week.
- Ensuring clean and safe enclosures for the birds.
- Preparing species-specific diets and creating enrichment.
- Helping staff and volunteers monitor critical patients and babies.
- Helping with special Bird Center projects.
- Helping staff with laundry.
- Running errands, such as transferring birds to other rehab facilities, or picking up fruit or insects at the store.
- General gardening and other outdoor maintenance at the clinic.
- Experienced volunteers can be trained to answer calls and enter data into our system.
Generously funded by the Greater Milan Area Community Foundation, this is an opportunity for individuals and families who wish to work outdoors. An orientation is required, but work can be done outside of traditional AIM business hours by signing up through SignUpGenius. The produce grown and harvested from our community garden is handed out to our pantry visitors.

Digital Marketing Specialist for

- Responsibilities: Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to increase the magazine's online presence. Manage social media accounts and create engaging content.
- Requirements: Experience in digital marketing, proficiency in social media platforms, and strong communication skills.
- Commitment: 6 months, with an expected workload of 3-5 hours per week.
Editor-in-Chief for
Hired In Michigan Community Empowerment
- Responsibilities: Oversee the magazine's editorial vision, manage the editorial calendar, and ensure content aligns with the magazine's goals. Lead editorial meetings and provide guidance to the editorial team.
- Requirements: Strong leadership skills, excellent writing and editing skills, experience in digital publishing, and a deep understanding of community empowerment issues in Michigan.
- Commitment: 6 months, with an expected workload of 5-10 hours per week.
Due to COVID-19, we are offering contactless grocery distribution to clients. Volunteers are needed to pack groceries and deliver them to cars. We ask that all volunteers be 18+ during this time. Volunteers are required to attend an orientation prior to their first shift.
Tuesday (9am-10am): Delivery truck unloading.
Tuesday - Thursday: 10am-12pm
Graphic Designer for
Hired In Michigan Community Empowerment
- Responsibilities: Design digital layouts for the magazine, create graphics for articles and social media, and maintain a consistent visual brand identity.
- Requirements: Proficiency in graphic design software, a strong portfolio, and an eye for design.
- Commitment: 6 months, with a workload varying based on magazine's publishing schedule.

Aid in Milan is able to serve so many people because our overhead is so low. We have a staff of 3 people, so it’s our large number of volunteers that keep things running. If you’d like to help us fill in the gaps on the administrative side of things, there is always work to be done! From answering phones during Grab & Go hours, to data entry- let us know what you’re good at, and we have a job for you!
Hours are flexible, so let us know when you are available! There is no minimum number of hours or shifts per month.
We are looking for packers and delivery help! We ask that packers are 16+ for health and safety reasons. We welcome individuals and families to help deliver (we do require at least 2+ people per delivery vehicle; we can match you with a partner if needed!).
Packing- Wednesdays 10am-12pm
Delivery- Wednesdays 12pm-1pm/Thursdays 9:30am-10:30pm
