This is what meals on wheels is all about – delivering a meal to seniors in our community and checking in to say hello. We need substitutes that can learn a route or two and step in when a driver can not make it.

Volunteering is as simple as a once a month commitment helps seniors live independently and well, in their own homes for as long as possible. This could involve providing rides to appointments, running errands, performing handy work, delivering meals, assisting with technology, or being a friendly visitor.

Summary Under supervision of the Assistant Transportation Manager, is responsible for the timely and safe delivery of meals to various Home Delivered Meals participants. Create a personal fundraising page. Organize a diaper or personal care product drive for our pantry. Collect books and board games for our Family Center Resource Room. Support a family we serve for the holidays by purchasing gifts and a holiday meal.

Help maintain our gardens and landscaping throughout the spring, summer and fall.

Provide child care during our Trauma Support Groups. Become a foster parent.

Assist with clerical tasks in our offices. Plan and execute a special event for children in our Foster Care program. Educate others about the work of Family & Children Services at Fairs and Festivals.

Put your green thumb to work by sharing the joys of nature and your knowledge of horticulture with our senior residents in the Friendship Village Woods and Gardens.

Take your “techie” talents and teaching skills to the next level by training our appreciative senior residents to use, and love, their computers, I-Pads, Kindles and smart phones.
