How to Be an Ally for the Deaf Community

On Monday, January 18, 2021, from 1:00 PM ET to 5:00 PM ET, the Michigan Deaf Association (MDA) will offer free educational workshops about the Deaf community. Join us to learn some sign language and how to be an ally for the Deaf community.

Let’s learn the alphabet in American Sign Language (1PM ET);
Deaf Awareness 101 Training (2PM ET);
Let’s learn basic signs in American Sign Language for a customer service situation (3PM ET);
Ways You Can Accommodate a Deaf Person During the Pandemic (4PM ET)

If you’re working directly with deaf and hard of hearing individuals, the MDA offers a free ClearMask to qualified Michigan residents. Watch our presentations to learn more about how you can apply for a free ClearMask and/or support our work.

This event will be live-streamed on Facebook and a virtual link to the free educational workshops will be provided to registrants within 48 hours of the Day of Service.
