About this event

Hoods United Through Service

On behalf of The Biden-Harris Presidential Inaugural Committee. Founder of 501c3 organization From The Hood and Detroit Native, Byron D. Brooks will be hosting what he is calling the “Hoods United Through Service.” This event will embody a holistic approach to service while also solidifying the importance of community, especially during these trying times. In Honor of Dr. King’s legacy, we will be doing several initiatives to pour into our Detroit community. Creating and distributing winter care packages and hot meals to the homeless. Creating and donating what we call Purses with a Purpose (Little purses filled with feminine hygiene products) and donate them to Women Shelters. Also, if we receive enough financial support and donations, we plan on giving out PPE kits, groceries, and toys to low-income families within the City of Detroit. Following this, we will be planning a virtual program that will touch on the importance of MLK Day, Service, Advocacy, Social Justice, and how we, as the people can take a stand and be the change of which we seek to help create a better society. An equitable society for all Americans.
