About this event

Flint MLK Day of Service Free Drive-Thru Food Distributions

In the words of Dr. King, “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.” We would like to extend the opportunity to serve the community on the MLK Day of Service, while still adhering to COVID-19 safety procedures (pre-health assessment, temperature checks, social distancing, mask requirement, etc). Volunteer shifts at each site will be limited to a maximum of 25 people who will be socially distanced outside.

The Flint National Service Accelerator and the United Way of Genesee County in partnership with the Flint Community Education Initiative will be hosting two free drive-thru food distributions. AmeriCorps members and volunteers will assist in setting up stations for food distribution and load food into the vehicles that come through. Community members will stay in their cars throughout the drive-thru to minimize contact with the volunteers.

We will also be giving out 500 locally sourced MLK Day of Service themed book and activity bags for families who drive through. These bags will include information about free community resources for Flint families.

Locations:

Flint Cultural Center Academy located at 1200 Robert T Longway Blvd, Flint, MI 48503
