DIY Non-Perishable Food Kits

United Way of Southwest Michigan can provide guidance to any corporation or group interested in holding a DIY kit packing. Items can be collected from your group for anything from dinner basket kits, soup kits, spice kits, or power packs for kids. UWSM can also identify organizations in need to receive the donations. We will provide a donation drive item check list, a project packing instruction guide, and then we will make sure the items get sent to area organizations and pantries so they get directly into the hands of people who need them.

Van Buren County Reunification Volunteer

In the unlikely case of an active shooter situation in a school in Van Buren county, volunteers are needed to help with reunification of student and parents/guardians. This volunteer opportunity is an “on-call” opportunity, meaning that you will only be contacted for training purposes and in the case of an actual emergency event. Volunteers will need to be background checked and will work with emergency and school personnel to assist in the reunification of parents/guardians with their students in a time of fear and chaos.
