How you help

Your talents and experience have the power to change girls’ lives. As a Girl Scout volunteer, you’ll help craft their experiences—from the way they run their cookie businesses to the way they speak up in meetings. You’ll also teach them the skills and give them the confidence they need to bring their unique ideas to life and make changes that they never thought possible. As girls learn, grow, and lead, you’re there through it all—shaping the future right along with us. And while you teach them important life lessons and set them up for happy, successful lives, you’ll grow too—honing your own leadership and organizational skills. It’s a win-win.

Let’s get started!

Help her dream big. Volunteer for her.

About us

We Are Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs from coast to coast, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.

Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes (GSNWGL) partners with 4,000 volunteers, serves approximately 10,000 girls, and covers 58 counties across northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Girl Scout Mission | Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Our Program

Girl Scouts prepare for fun, friendship, and new adventures while making the world a better place.

Girl Scouts look at our world and take action to change it for the better. They make friends, challenge themselves with new experiences, write their own stories, and develop the skills and confidence to say, “I know I can do this!”

Girl-led | Girl Scouts follow their own lead, no matter their age. From selecting the badges they’ll pursue to how they’ll organize an activity, Girl Scouts have the chance to follow their dreams and grow their skills, and the confidence that comes with that.

Learning by Doing | Hands-on activities are fun for Girl Scouts of any age, but they also help them feel empowered to shape their own experience. Girl Scouts unlock their “I got this” attitude as they discover they can always dust themselves off and try again when things don’t go according to plan.

Cooperative Learning | There’s power in having a tight-knit group of friends who will learn with you, grow with you, and always cheer you on. Girl Scouts see firsthand that teamwork, respect, and collaboration can fuel them through any challenge that comes their way.

By participating in fun activities through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, Girl Scouts:

Discover | They’ll find out who they are, what they care about, and how to best use their unique talents.

Connect | They’ll collaborate with others, both locally and globally, to learn and expand their horizons.

Take Action | They’ll do what Girl Scouts always do: make the world a better place.

With the help of supportive adults and troop leaders who help bring these three unique processes to life, girls try new things, share their full selves, and see how good it feels to lead from the heart.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) | Let your girl see that STEM can help her make the world a better place.

Outdoors | Girl Scouts are forces of nature. And they were meant for outdoor adventures.

Life Skills | Girl Scout badges covering topics like civic engagement, healthy living, and communication skills help Girl Scouts grow in confidence as they develop the skills to lead their best life!

Entrepreneurship | Research shows that girls are actively interested in becoming entrepreneurs, developing financially stable futures, and using their skills to make a big impact on the world.
