Join a Committee

Committee members are the core volunteers who help keep The DAAC alive! There are always ongoing committee positions available to be filled at The DAAC. Time commitment varies, but is usually 1-2 hours a week and involves attending a monthly committee meeting. Committees include: Art, Music, Building Cleaning, Community Outreach, Fundraising/Finance, Volunteer Coordinator, and Youth Programming.

Sound Flex

You will be the person checking in performers, open up communication between them & the Sound volunteer, and ensure they are checked-in with the Admissions & COVID Volunteers. During events, you will also be in charge of helping the sound technician with set-up, checking bathroom supplies, cleaning & sanitizing, and overall building security & safety through the event.

Art Show Volunteering

The DAAC hosts artist exhibitions on a continuous basis throughout the year. Usually an art installation lasts about one month. Upon arrival, you will help with set up of The DAAC merch station and snack station. After the doors open, you will help sell The DAAC merch, answer questions, and help sell the artists’ art. At the end of the event, you will help wipe down surfaces and break down the tables and chairs.

General Admissions

Attendees will rely on you to admit them into the event, answer questions about the venue and The DAAC’s mission, sell them merchandise & concessions, and act as a guardian of the venue’s integrity and safety for everyone attending the event. You will be responsible for counting money, paying out performers, and creating money deposits for The DAAC. You will also be the one making sure all the opening/closing tasks and volunteer check-ins are completed.

Sound Technician

You are the one to make sure the Performers load in/out on time, sound good, and that their sets stick to schedule! You will maintain the sound and lights for the evening, and make sure everything is used and stored properly for our community venue. Should have previous sound experience or training.

About us The Division Avenue Arts Collective, or DAAC, is an all-ages music venue, art gallery and DIY project incubator started in 2003 by a rotating group of creatives in Grand Rapids, MI. Fueled by volunteers, The DAAC strives to provide a safe & neutral space for artistic expression, available to everyone regardless of age or other circumstance. We believe that everyone has something to contribute, and we strive to create a community based on participatory culture through a DIT (do-it-together) approach. Additionally, we are deeply committed to remaining non-commercial, independent, and institutionally transparent.
