Our mission	The Little Forks Conservancy permanently protects and improves natural environments in mid-Michigan by leading and inspiring actions that conserve vital habitats and waterways for the benefit of our entire community.

Opportunities	Stream Sampling Biannual Stream Sampling on the Cedar River in Gladwin County. Volunteers will pick out macroinvertebrates collected by a trained volunteer in the water. Leadership and in the water collection are formally trained volunteers, a training held once a year. Occasional Children, Teens, Adults Individuals, Groups (2-10), Families Outdoor On-site, Formal Weekends Preserve Steward Preserve Volunteers help build trail, remove invasive species, complete plantings and participate in citizen science projects on the preserves Occasional, Weekly, Monthly Teens, 55+, Adults Individuals, Groups (2-10), Corporate Teams Physical, Outdoor On-site Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Preserve Monitor Preserve Monitors are formally trained and visit the preserves/natural areas three times a year to ensure the property is being used properly and act as unbiased eyes on the property. Occasional Adults Individuals, Families Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends LFC Ambassador As an ambassador, you are informed on the programs at Little Forks and the role Little Forks plays in the community. These volunteer may be contacted when tabling events happen to accompany a staff member or man a booth on your own for some time Occasional Adults Individuals Event support, Indoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends

How you help	Volunteers are needed to help maintain the natural areas by monitoring them, building trails, and removing invasive species. people can also participate in citizen science efforts like vernal pool monitoring and stream sampling. Volunteers may be called on to help at tabling events as an LFC Ambassador.

About us	We are a small non-profit based in Midland, MI and since 1996, we’ve protected over 4,023 acres of land, 23 miles of shoreline and maintain 860 acres open to the public with 10 miles of trail across 5 nature preserves. We strive to have places in nature that inspire connections and communities, serve as a healing and educational space, and allow all ages and abilities access to nature – now and for future generations to come.
