Ways to help

Tutoring

Tutoring is a very important part of St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center’s literacy program. We have many retired educators that give their time tutoring our students. We are here to help them strengthen their education and learn the skills needed to go onto college, received their GED and live a productive life.

How you help At St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center we are grateful to all of those who give their time, whether it is just a hour or a day. You are all needed and bring with you a special gift that can be shared with others.
About us We provide a safe environment for survivors of abuse and poverty. We give these individuals the access to learn and further their education with the help of our tutoring volunteers, along with teaching basic life skills to those who need it, encouraging them along the way and building their self-esteem, so that one day they become independent. In addition to employment preparation programs, we also operate two social enterprises, a food pantry that serves over 3,000 people monthly, and a variety of community services, including crisis intervention, childcare, and a literacy center. These services are critical to the success of our workforce programming, as they provide participants with additional wrap-around services required to support their families as well as real-world experience during the program.
