How you help Our vision is "Empowering People and Ending Poverty". To this end we have an established food pantry under the Greater Lansing Food Bank, a personal needs closet to provide life essentials such as toilet paper, laundry soap, shampoo and deodorant, all items not covered by SNAP benefits. We also have a children's book corner where every child who comes in gets to select books to take home.
About us South Lansing Ministries began in 2004 in a United Methodist Church to serve those in our community that are economically disadvantaged. We have free computer usage with internet access for job search, resume writing, and learning to use a Microsoft programs. We have a volunteer who do minor repairs to computers and teach classes to anyone interested in developing or improving their skill level. We also do a lot of information and referral for other services in our area, as members of Christian Services. We grow a community garden each year to supplement food orders with fresh produce. Community Builders is a program we are running in a local school to assist children with their emotional growth and development and a Breakfast with Books program to engage parents and children to increase literacy.
