How you help Volunteers can tutor in the classroom, coach on the squash courts, and more, 6 days a week.
About us Racquet Up offers an intensive, holistic and long-term youth development program. The purpose is to help Detroit students get to and through college. Youth join in 5th grade and are supported through graduation from high school and college. Over many years in the program, students are provided with significant academic support, world-class coaching in the sport of squash, and a wide range of character-building exposure activities. Students commit to attending at least three hours a day for three days per week, including equal parts academic enrichment and health and fitness activities. They volunteer in the community through organized service projects. They visit Detroit’s cultural amenities. They tour colleges and travel to squash competitions throughout the Midwest, Canada, and the East Coast. Literacy development, homework help, and supplemental tutoring are at the core of the program. Students learn about nutrition, and are supported with social-emotional development in a strong, positive team culture. In summer, students travel to academic, athletic, and outdoor adventure camps across the United States.
