Our mission	To increase children’s experiences with language and literacy to better understand themselves, communicate with others, and interact with the world.

Opportunities	Story Booklets Make create-your-own story booklets! Take four pieces of copy paper with a colored cover, fold the stack in half, and staple it together! One-time, Occasional Teens, 55+, Adults, Child with Adult Individuals, Groups (2-10), Families Indoor None, On-site Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Fill Book Bags This can be done at home or at your business! We will provide the materials and directions. One-time, Occasional Teens, 55+, Adults, Child with Adult Individuals, Groups (2-10), Corporate Teams, Families Indoor On-site Weekdays, Weekends Finger Puppets Tie finger puppets! We double check and secure the cotton stuffing inside each puppet before sending them out for distribution. Occasional Teens, 55+, Adults Individuals, Groups (2-10), Families Indoor On-site Weekdays, Weekends Sew Book Bags Sew book bags! These bags are given to children at participating pantries, sites of family assistance, and WIC! Book bags are at the heart of our programs! Consider making one a week or one a month or whatever you have the time to do. How you help	As our pool of volunteers and literacy supplies grows, so too, does our reach.

About us	PoWeR! stands for Play, Write, and Read! We find it is also a great way to demonstrate the role that language and literacy play in the lives of children. We are a Volunteer Organization in Lower Northern Michigan. We began in March of 2016 and are currently operating at twenty sites with our Original Book Bag Project. We have expanded to include four additional literacy give-away programs. We want to positively impact as many children and families as we are able! For the Original Book Bag Project, we create bags of literacy and take them to food and baby pantries (and sometimes community events when invited). When children and their families come to feed their bellies, the children also select books and book bags with a puppet and writing materials to feed their minds.
