Ways to help

Court Ordered Community Service

We welcome you to fulfill your court ordered community service hours at Oakland HOPE you may sign up for a volunteer shift in our Food Pantry or Thrift Store. Those with court ordered community service will meet with the Volunteer Coordinator to fill out some pre-service paperwork. As a Community Service Volunteer it is your responsibility to have a Hours-log, signed-off each day you volunteer so you always know the status of your hours and can submit it as proof to your PO. Note: When you sign up to volunteer, you are signing up for the entire shift!

Food Pantry

Work in the Food Pantry by being a shopper! Help select items for families who visit the food pantry and load the food boxes into thier vehicles. Work with other dedicated volunteers to sort through food items for quality assurrance and to help to pre-bag fresh produce! NEW VOLUNTEERS arrive by 10am for training. Volunteer Shifts are 10:30 - 4:00 Tuesday- Saturday.

Thrift Store

Work in the thrift store by sorting and pricing items! Help keep shelves updated with new merchandise. Work with thrift store staff to keep the store professional and comfortable. Our Thrift Store is the heartbeat of Oakland HOPE. NEW VOLUNTEERS arrive by 10am for training. Volunteer Shifts are 10:30 - 4:00 Tuesday- Saturday.

Group Volunteering

Alleviating hunger and empowering lives is a group effort. If you are simply looking for a team-building activity or just a great time with friends, volunteering your time at Oakland HOPE is a perfect fit! Send an "I'm Interested" message with the size of your group for more information!

About us Oakland HOPE began as an idea in the vision of One Heart Network (10 churches who meet regularly for prayer and encouragement). It was born out of a God-given desire to come alongside our community with more than just words. Oakland HOPE’s Client Choice Food Pantry is able to provide FREE groceries to thousands of families each month. Families, seniors and veterans who have lost their paycheck and income now receive free groceries because of your support!
