Seeking to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, community and hope in Emmet and Charlevoix Counties of Michigan.

Opportunities

Lunch Provider

Volunteers are needed to help provide lunch for a wide range of volunteer opportunities from a group in our ReStore to a group on a jobsite. Volunteer groups can range from 6 volunteers to sometimes 20. Breakfast and snacks are helpful on the jobsite too!

ReStore Volunteer Opportunties

The ReStore is a home improvement outlet and thrift shop open to the public. Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore recycles and sells overstocked, discontinued, new, used, and donated building materials, household furniture and furnishings, tools, appliances, antiques, collectibles, and more! Volunteers are always needed to help greet customers, load and unload donations received, organize the warehouse and help with donation pick-ups.

Construction Volunteer

Construction usually takes place Monday-Saturday from 9 am-3 pm. When multiple projects are happening at the same time, our schedule may vary from 2-3 days a week per jobsite. Schedules are weather dependent. Minors who are interested in volunteering on the construction site are welcome to help with projects such as painting, landscaping, and other age-appropriate projects as they come up.

Committee Volunteer

At Habitat, our committees provide support to each department. We are always seeking more volunteers from our local communities to serve on a committee and contribute fresh ideas to our organization. Our committees are as follows:​ Construction Committee, Event Committee, ReStore Committee, and Fund Development.

About us

Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical Christian housing organization. Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating poverty housing locally by constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes, advocating for fair and just housing policies, and providing training and resources to help families improve their living conditions. The affiliate has served more than 40 families with affordable housing and housing repairs since 1990 in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties of Michigan.
