Pantry Worker
We have three pantries in need of volunteers. HELP Pantry at Memorial Presbyterian Church and SAMS Pantry sponsored by St. John’s Episcopal Church, located at 503 S Saginaw Rd are client select pantries. Volunteer hours for HELP are 12:45-3:30 M-F. SAMS pantry hours are M,W, Th 1:00-3:00and T,F,Sa 9:15-11:30. Bullock Creek Pantry located at Messiah Lutheran volunteers pack the bags of food. Their hours are T&TH 11:30-1:00.

Volunteer Coordinator
Volunteer will be responsible for creating and maintaining a listing of volunteers, assist in getting volunteers for various EFPN activities such as the postal drive and Balloon Fest collection, and after Thanksgiving collection. Being able to work with Excel is desired.

Warehouse
Each week volunteers are needed on Thursday afternoons around 12:00-1:00 PM at 503 S Saginaw Rd. to meet the Hidden Harvest truck and receive donations from Hidden Harvest.

Mobile Pantry
Once a month EFPN sponsors a mobile pantry which are food give aways feeding around 250 families. Volunteers are needed 9:00-3:00. Mobile pantries are typically held on Wednesdays or Thursdays. If interested, you are added to a list and the mobile pantry coordinator notifies you of upcoming mobiles. You can sign up if you are available and if not, just wait till the next opportunity.

Farmer’s Market Pick-Up
During the summer months we need volunteers to pick up produce from the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays around 12:45 pm. We also need volunteers on Monday mornings to divide up the produce and deliver it to various agencies.

Mobile Pantry Co-Coordinator
The mobile pantry co-coordinator tasks may include picking up items and bringing them to the event location, helping volunteers find a task for the day of the event, helping with set-up to determine where the various food stations should be located at the event site and overseeing the event so things run smoothly. The mobiles are typically held on Wednesdays or Thursdays and the volunteer is needed from around 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Large Food Donations
We keep a list of volunteers that we call to sort, count and shelve food when there are large community food donations.

| How you help |
Words are not adequate to thank the many volunteers who keep our organization running. Because of our volunteers, many people will not go to bed hungry. It is estimated that we have at least 400 volunteers in our organization. We wish we could personally thank each one of them. It takes a lot of work and dedication to operate our eight pantries. |

In January and February 1982, unemployment in Midland County rose from 12.6% to 13.7%. Discussions began at Memorial Presbyterian Church on how to help the growing food needs of those in Midland County. A pantry was established at Memorial Presbyterian. It was apparent that the need would increase. A survey was conducted in 1982 to determine how to help those in need. Over 200 surveys were completed and the results showed that the majority of those polled preferred emergency food rather than other food assistance such as a soup kitchen. In 1983 the Network was established with 5 pantry sites. EFPN has grown over the years to encompass a number of special programs as well as eight pantries. |
