Volunteer

Would you enjoy crewing on a tall ship, telling stories, working with children, vessel maintenance, or making lasting friendships? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then the MMM has a place for you. Whether it’s behind the scenes or working with the public, you can help us preserve, protect, and interpret Michigan’s Great Lakes maritime history and heritage.

How you help Volunteers make all the difference at the Michigan Maritime Museum!
About us From hands-on exhibits on our authentic waterfront campus to historically immersive experiences aboard our on-water fleet, the Michigan Maritime Museum has something for every Great Lakes enthusiast. Five separate structures offer a variety of engaging opportunities for the Museum visitor, including permanent and changing exhibits on Michigan maritime history, a workshop for the teaching boat-building and related maritime skills, and a fleet of period and replica vessels available to visitors for on-water experiences.
