How you help

Love Your Neighbor is a Volunteer-Run Organization

Without our 400+ volunteers, we would not have a donation center, two resale shops, or thriving Connection Center and Life Skills Program. We believe everyone has something to offer and that all people are made in God’s image. There’s a place for you here!

As we continue to equip our community to love, serve and connect with dignity – we hope you’ll join us. God is truly using this place to transform all of us.

About us

For Over 40 Years

Love Your Neighbor has served as a trusted presence in Ottawa and Kent counties, supporting neighbors who fall within the ALICE population (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). These are working individuals and families who struggle to meet basic needs despite being employed. What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a vibrant family resource and connection center, known for its asset-based approach and its commitment to addressing the financial, relational, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of the whole family.

The Life Skills Program

Love Your Neighbor partners with up to 75 families a year, providing long-term financial education in a supportive setting and crosses into relational and emotional domains, providing direct material supports like groceries, gas, car repair, housing subsidies and childcare during class time, in addition to long-term supports like low-interest loans and transitional housing. This program is only possible with strategic church and community partners, as well as many volunteers.

At Love, We Measure Hope

There are many outcomes we measure for each individual or family that participates in Life Skills, but more than the education and tangible resources is the distinct hope that grows from being in community and knowing you aren’t struggling alone. It is in this community where we see God transforming lives.
