VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - Livingston County Habitat for Humanity (On-going)


Habitat for Humanity is, first and foremost, a non-profit builder that aims to create safe, decent, and affordable housing for families in need in Livingston County. We do this in partnership with families to provide safe, affordable, adequate housing and necessary home and/or maintenance needs for individuals who otherwise cannot afford these services. Experience shows these opportunities are life-changing for the families with which we partner. 


1. Construction Volunteers- Trade skills experience welcome but not required. On-the-job training and instruction provided. 


WHY? Help us change the lives of families in our community through volunteering with our home-building program.


WHO? Livingston County Habitat for Humanity helps marginalized groups in the community meet necessary home needs for those who qualify for our home building program.

2. "A Brush with Kindness" Home Repair Volunteers- Trade skill experience welcome but not required. On-the-job training and instruction provided.

WHO? Livingston County Habitat for Humanity helps marginalized groups in the community meet necessary home repair needs, which allows...



  • Aging seniors to remain in their homes safely

  • Assist families and individuals who face financial hardship and fiscal challenges

  • Provides home repair needs for families and individuals who need modification to their home for safety and/or mobility purposes (i.e., furnaces, floor repair, plumbing, ramp installation, grab bars, etc.)

  • Help prevent homelessness due to unlivable housing environments

3. ReStore Volunteer's flexible hours


WHY? "It takes many helping hands to organize, repair, and clean donated items. Are you a tinkering kind of person? Help us manage the day-to-day operations of the store, check people out at the cash register, or work in the workshop.


We are looking for individuals willing to volunteer at the ReStore, and we welcome you to join our family. Our culture is one of fun, community, and connections. Our volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities and operations of our ReStore.

PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION AM/PM SHIFT

MUST BE 18 years +


Parking is available on the street.


Registration: Please register online at www.livingstonhabitat.org. Select the volunteer tab, then click on Build Site Public Schedule (the blue button). If desired, register for available time slots for construction volunteer opportunities.

Day-of-Event Instructions for Volunteers


"Thank you for volunteering for Livingston County Habitat for Humanity!"


Everyone 18 and over is welcome to volunteer on a building project (if you're under 18, contact Jennifer for other opportunities).
You don't need any experience.
If you have your own work gloves, safety glasses, or tools, feel free to bring them. If not, we have them available at the build site.
Please wear seasonally appropriate clothing. We recommend closed-toed shoes, work boots, or tennis shoes. If you work outside in the sun, we recommend using sunscreen.
Livingston Habitat for Humanity appreciates our volunteers, and you will be nourished with coffee, water, treats, and beverages throughout the day. Lunch is provided for volunteers who work a full day.

Instructions:


Please check in with the Onsite Coordinator.
Release forms are automated (when you register.)
Volunteer shirts will be handed out.
Prepare for a "Safety Talk" with Chris Allen, Construction Director
Instructions, tasks, and goals will be given onsite.
AM refreshments & beverages will be provided.
Lunch is provided (for volunteers who work all day.)
Group photos of the experience will be taken.
Clean-up is 30 minutes before the event closes.
