About us | Little Woods is a 501(c)3 nonprofit sanctuary located in Central Michigan. Founded in 2018.  We work with the animals whose options are limited and needs are unique, with a focus on at risk farmed animals. Whether it’s physical or emotional trauma, our mission is to provide them a place to heal and live the life they deserve. We are dedicated to providing the best care possible for the animals who call Little Woods home. Our residents come from a variety of backgrounds and situations with one main thing in common, they need help. Primarily we focus on farmed animals, specifically individuals who are high risk and not suitable for placement in private homes. Some of the animals who come here have significant medical requirements, while others need somewhere to heal emotionally from their trauma. We have welcomed individuals from hoarding cases, criminal case surrenders, and for many as the last chance at life. While most rescues operate on the basis of adoption and foster programs, sanctuaries offer permanent placement and commit to providing lifelong care for each individual. |
