Our mission	Conserving the land, water and scenic character of Leelanau County.

Opportunities	Docents Taking a hike with our wonderful, knowledgeable docents is a great way to get to know our natural areas. Annually, they lead over 500 people on hikes in all four seasons. Occasional, Weekly, Monthly 21+, 55+, Adults Individuals Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Wildflower Rescue Each spring this group digs wildflowers that might otherwise be bulldozed under because of a house or driveway going in. They then sale the plants over Memorial Day Weekend at an annual Wildflower Rescue Plant Sale. One-time, Occasional Teens, 21+, 55+, Adults Individuals, Groups (2-10) Outdoor None, On-site Weekdays, Weekends Volunteer Workbee Events If you love being outside and want to make a difference, sign up for a workbee! Trail maintenance, planting trees and invasive species removal are among the many jobs our volunteers help with. One-time, Occasional Teens, 21+, 55+, Adults, Child with Adult Individuals, Groups (2-10), Families Event support, Outdoor None, On-site Weekdays, Weekends Water Monitoring We have been monitoring county lakes and streams almost since our founding in 1988. Volunteers are needed to help gather water samples and take other measurements such as flow and depth. Occasional, Monthly 21+, 55+, Adults Individuals Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Citizen Scientists Citizen Scientists help to gather information and track changes that are happening in our environment. The Leelanau Conservancy will provide training on species identification and data collection. Monitoring can be done individually or we can pair volunteers up to work together! Occasional, Monthly 21+, 55+, Adults, Child with Adult Individuals, Groups (2-10), Families Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Photographers Our story is a visual one and we rely on our talented volunteer photographers to capture the essence of our natural areas and the people who hike and volunteer at them. Occasional 21+, 55+, Adults Individuals Outdoor None, Skilled Weekdays, Weekends Trail Stewards Our trail stewards walk their assigned natural areas regularly and help to keep trails open by removing trees and communicating with our staff about trail conditions. How you help	Volunteers are the heart of the Leelanau Conservancy. From our trail stewards who take care of our 28 miles of trails, to photographers who share their beautiful images with us, there is something for everyone.

About us	The Leelanau Conservancy is a 501 (c) 3 organization founded in 1988. We opened our doors with a big dream and a small group of individuals dedicated to the idea that the Leelanau Peninsula is a place that deserves our best efforts to protect its unique landscapes. We have preserved over 16,000 acres and created 28 Natural Areas for public enjoyment with more than 28 miles of trails. We have also worked with over 190 landowners to protect family farms and cherished private lands with legal agreements called conservation easements.
