About us

The Community Action Department is Kent County’s hub for community development and housing programs. We invest in public services and infrastructure using federal, state, and local grants to revitalize neighborhoods and support low- to moderate-income households.

Beyond funding projects, we tackle urgent needs like food insecurity, utility assistance, affordable housing, and transportation. Our team also works to keep homes safe and energy-efficient through weatherization, lead hazard control, and home rehabilitation programs. We’re committed to strengthening communities by supporting workforce and contractor development, ensuring long-term growth.
