Our mission

To foster a healing, supportive, and sustainable environment for therapeutic, learning, & wellness programs that improve the quality of life, health, & wellbeing of individuals of all ages and abilities by utilizing the benefits of farm life and animal assisted therapy to achieve meaningful outcomes (with an emphasis on inclusive programs that serve individuals with special needs & their families).
Opportunities

Building & Landscape Projects

Facility improvements & maintenance (e.g. painting, fence repairs, building holding stalls). Landscaping & gardening activities (e.g. planting, weeding, woodchips, & rock edging). Clearing riding trails and trail maintenance, cutting up brush piles & stacking.

Program-related activities

Assist with therapeutic riding and hippotherapy sessions (horse handlers & sidewalkers). Assist with program development, clerical work, special events & fundraisers. Assist with animal care (e.g. feeding, grooming, mucking). Previous horse experience welcomed but not required.

About us

Heritage Hill is a 60-acre scenic 19th centuryfarm in Ann Arbor, Michigan that has been offering therapeutic equine assisted programs and farm activities for individuals with special needs since 1999. Michigan Abilities Center, a PATH, International Center, has provided equine assisted therapy programs at Heritage Hill since 2006. In May, 2015 Heritage Hill Haven was incorporated as a nonprofit to help support a variety of therapeutic and educational programs for children, youth, and adults with physical, mental, emotional, or learning challenges.
