Our mission	Dwelling Place improves the lives of people by creating quality affordable housing, providing essential support services, and serving as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization.

Opportunities	Neighboring Program We are neighbors lending a hand to our fellow neighbors, striving to understand social issues that affect all of us. In this approach, we gain perspective from the wisdom of one another. The neighboring approach aims to ask more questions than provide answers – it starts with “Who are my neighbors? What issues affect us?” and results in “What can I do to help?” Our Neighboring Program hosts three main efforts, with other ad-hoc volunteer opportunities sprinkled through the year. Opportunities include collection drives, property days, curb appeal, neighborly connections, and more. Occasional, Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults, Child with Adult Individuals, Groups (2-10), Families Event support, Indoor, Outdoor On-site, Formal, Skilled Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Collection Drives You can support our collection drives by building Welcome Home Baskets for new residents and maintaining our inventory of bus passes and other items. One-time, Occasional Teens, 55+, Adults Individuals, Groups (2-10), Families Event support, Indoor None, On-site Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Curb Appeal Crew Lend your perspective to Dwelling Place as you tour our diverse property portfolio and evaluate buildings for attractiveness. Together, we can improve our structures and in turn, people’s lives! Curb Appeal Evaluations consist of a one-to-four-hour experience where small teams visit between one and six properties and make observations about the built environment. Occasional 21+, 55+, Adults Groups (2-10), Families Outdoor On-site Evenings, Weekends Property Days Work alongside Dwelling Place staff and residents to improve a property through landscaping, community art, maintenance and construction projects. Great for small and large groups! Occasional Teens, 21+, 55+, Adults Individuals, Groups (2-10), Groups (10+), Corporate Teams, Families Outdoor On-site Weekends

How you help	We are not volunteers in a vacuum, peering into the lives of low-income residents from a looking glass. We are neighbors lending a hand to our fellow neighbors, striving to understand social issues that affect all of us.

About us	We know there can be beauty and power in the place we call home. A home can evoke a sense of pride and place where respite, restoration, and personal growth can flourish. This is what informs the mission of Dwelling Place and what motivates us to create affordable housing communities across West Michigan.
