Ways to help

Y Volunteer

As a Y volunteer, you can lead an exercise class, read to our Preschoolers, coach a basketball team, help out at a special event, or simply just serve as a role model for young people. No matter how you devote your time, you’ll be working with other volunteers and Y professionals to make a difference in the lives of children and families in your community.

How you help Every hour you spend as a Y volunteer translates into the caring attention a child or teen needs to grow up healthy and resilient. It translates into support for families so they can be successful and strong. Into healthier lives for people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and incomes. Into a safer, more viable community that makes it a good place to live and work.
About us At the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA, we believe that lasting personal and social change happens when we all work together. Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, strengthening communities is our cause.
