DCA has a variety of projects throughout the year like decorating for the holidays, working in the garden, repackaging diapers, bulk mailings, community events, and so on. You also might have your own project idea to support the Douglass – either way, we welcome your support!

Douglass Pride Ambassador

Role modeling and informal mentoring to engage youth in an effort to build relationships provide love, attention, and interventions in affirming, positive, non-judgmental, and trauma informed ways.

Food Distribution

Study To Play

Study to Play is an incentive-based program for middle school and high school youth during the school year on Tuesday. Volunteer tutors needed for the hour of studying 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and for basketball playtime, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. By working with kids in a one-on-one setting on their homework, we are engaging and mentoring our youth and building relationships of trust.

Office Team Support

Provide office support by completing general office duties (front desk coverage, filing, data entry, etc.) as well as for special projects, fundraisers, and community events. A person who is a creative thinker and is comfortable leading projects from start to finish would thrive in the DCA environment.

Greeter

Welcome people who come to the Douglass and help direct them where they want to go. Provide information about programs and services, events, and resources that Douglass and other occupants in the building offer.

Douglass Caretaker

Assist with cleaning Douglass’ facility (offices, common rooms, gym, and bathrooms), room set up for events, maintenance needs, and grounds keeping, which includes both indoor and outdoor work.

Diaper Bank

About us Throughout its history, the Douglass has served individuals in the Northside neighborhood, as well as the greater Kalamazoo community as a center for social, recreational, and community development activities. The DCA’s goal is to be a center for diverse and world-class services which empower the residents of the Northside and the greater Kalamazoo area to enhance their quality of life.
