Our mission	Detroit Audubon fosters the appreciation and conservation of birds and the environment we share. Our primary focus is to protect birds and their habitats through engaging people, communities, and policymakers in conservation.

Opportunities	Provide Marketing, Website Development or Social Media Expertise Are you a budding web-developer with WordPress and CSS experience? Or someone with an email or social media marketing background? We’d love to get your help! Occasional, Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Virtual, Indoor None, Skilled Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Help in our Midtown Office Our Office Administrator needs help with processing Thank You Letters and Welcome Letters that go out to our members each month. Getting assistance with general office organization, filing, and cleanliness is also needed and would be much appreciated. Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Office work None, On-site Weekdays Grassland Bird Surveys We are looking for experienced birders to help with our Grassland Bird Surveys, which are conducted once a week each June. Occasional, Weekly 55+, Adults Individuals Outdoor Skilled Weekdays, Weekends Black Tern Monitoring We are looking for volunteers that are interested in joining our Research Coordinator in St. Clare Flats for a full day of monitoring efforts. These monitoring efforts will be done two days per week from mid-May until the end of July. This will involve being exposed to the elements in a boat for up to 6 hours per day, while monitoring Black Tern nests, chicks and adults. Necessary training will be provided. Weekly 55+, Adults Individuals Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Field Trip Leaders Detroit Audubon is seeking experienced birders to lead some of our field trips for 2023. We will offer personal training and work closely with our new field trip leaders until they are comfortable leading on their own or with a co-lead. Occasional, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Outdoor Formal, Skilled Weekdays Safe Passage Project We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in monitoring buildings in SE Michigan during Spring and Fall migration. This would involve the collection of bird specimens and the possible handling of injured birds to transport them safely to a Wildlife Rehabilitation Facility. Necessary training will be provided. Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Public Programs and Tabling Events We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us with our public education events and tabling events! This would involve helping us set-up and take down information tables, help with craft preparation, our traveling bookstore, and of course participate in some education and outreach about Detroit Audubon and bird conservation! Occasional, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Event support, Indoor, Outdoor On-site Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Flyway Articles and Photographs Needed Detroit Audubon’s seasonal magazine, the Flyway, includes articles and photographs describing our many programs, events and research projects throughout the year. Getting a volunteer photographer to attend some of our events would be a big help! If you are interested in science writing or natural resources and bird conservation writing, we would love to hear from you!
