Kennel & Cattery Caretakers

For those who prefer work behind the scenes, you are needed to help care for the animals’ daily needs. Working alongside the staff, volunteers assist with feeding, cleaning, washing dishes, laundry, and of course, passing out treats and toys. Caretaker shifts are 8:00am – 12:00pm daily. We are currently seeking volunteers who can commit to a minimum of once per week for 3 months or more. Individuals should be at least 16 years of age to volunteer independently. Youth ages 10-15 may volunteer alongside a parent or guardian.

Admissions Assistant

Our Admissions Assistants welcome incoming animals and their people, reassuring them that they have come to the right place. Volunteers assist in answering questions, help clients fill out the necessary paperwork, perform data entry, and lend a hand in answering phones.
Admissions Assistant shifts are Mon-Wed-Fri 12-4pm Tues/Thurs 12-6pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. (Any hours during those times would help.)

Dog Walking

Guaranteed to keep you and the dogs healthy and happy! Every dog deserves a nice walk outside every day. The Delta Animal Shelter volunteers take the dogs out for strolls around the property throughout the day. This is also a great time to reinforce good manners and teach your canine walking partner life skills – like walking politely on a leash, sit, etc. Volunteers are asked to commit to one scheduled shift per week. Lend Your Professional Skills

We can always use administrative and communications help, even if only for a couple of hours. Skilled maintenance and construction workers who can help out with our property or the homes of our families are some of our most precious commodities. Sometimes, cleaning help can be just the mental space a mom needs to begin believing she can do it. If you can teach about the Bible, financial management, home maintenance, health and wellness or another topic that would serve our families, we’d love to have you join us.

We are seeking caring individuals who have a heart for supporting our teen mamas (ages 13-24) and spending time with their wonderful children for an evening 2-4 times times a month. Off-Site Adoption Event Volunteers

We need volunteers to help with adoption events held at various locations throughout the area. This involves picking animals up from the shelter and taking them to the location, holding or walking the animals while introducing them to potential adopters, and bringing the animals back to the shelter at the end of the event. We really need more volunteers to help to this in our community.

Foster Care Parents

Are you willing and able to open your heart and home to temporarily care for the needs of puppies, kittens, cats, dogs or other critters? Foster care is a vital part of the shelter’s ability to care for animals who need just a bit more time or special attention before they are ready to go to a new home. Foster care can vary from a few days to several weeks.

Adoption Hosts

Adoption Hosts are key in the shelter, truly bringing pets and people together. We are looking for volunteers to showcase and care for the animals in our shelter! By becoming an Adoption Host, you are giving these wonderful pets an opportunity to be noticed by potential families. Hosts will:

greet visitors;

answer basic questions about animals;

show animals to potential adopters; and

care for animals’ needs such as refilling food and water dishes, washing soiled dishes and spot cleaning.
