Tutor

We are seeking volunteer tutors to help adults 18 and older achieve their goals of learning to read, write, and speak English. Tutors work one-to-one with both first language English speakers as well as those for whom English is their second language (ESL). All tutoring takes place at the literacy center, and materials and books are provided. Time commitment of two hours tutoring one time a week with class preparation prior to tutoring.

How you help The positive effects that our learners and their families receive from tutoring is well known and well documented: better jobs, a path from poverty, better health and better school performance from their children. Over 100 families each year reap these benefits from the connections they have with their tutors at our Adrian Rea Literacy Center. Thank you!
About us The Adrian Rea Literacy Center was established in 2008 to meet the needs of adult learners 18 and older who wish to improve their reading, writing, speaking and basic math skills. Certified tutors provide free one-to-one instruction to help learners meet their individual goals and objectives. Under the umbrella of the Dominican Rea Literacy Corporation, these centers provide safe learning environments which help adults meet the challenges of everyday living through education.
