Role Summary
Licensed dental providers at GBCHC deliver high-quality, compassionate oral healthcare to underserved patients. Responsibilities include patient assessments, preventive and restorative procedures, documentation, and patient education. Providers are supported by assistants and non-clinical staff.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct oral exams, preventive and restorative procedures 
• Document findings and treatment plans in the Dentrix EMR 
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and aftercare 
• Collaborate with dental assistants and support staff to optimize workflow 
• Ensure sterilization and infection control procedures are followed 
• Participate in dental clinic huddles and case review 
• Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic safety protocols 

Support Team

• Dental Assistants and Front Desk Staff
• Pre-Health Volunteers or Students (as applicable)
• Medical and Pharmacy Departments for interdisciplinary care coordination

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Michigan licensure (DDS, DMD, or RDH) 
• DEA license (if applicable) 
• Current CPR certification 
• Clinical experience in community, public health, or private dental practice 
• Commitment to providing equitable, trauma-informed care 

Commitment

• A minimum of two to three 4-hour shifts per month preferred 
• Completion of clinic orientation, HIPAA, and Dentrix documentation training 
• Participation in periodic QI surveys or case reviews is encouraged 

Role Summary
As a volunteer licensed medical provider at GBCHC, you will deliver compassionate, high-quality care to underserved patients in a multidisciplinary team-based environment. You will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patient conditions while working in collaboration with clinic staff, students, and other volunteers.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform medical evaluations and provide direct patient care 
• Use AthenaHealth EMR with support from trained scribe volunteers 
• Develop treatment plans in alignment with clinical guidelines 
• Coordinate care and make internal/external referrals as appropriate 
• Communicate effectively with nurses, medical coordinator, and pharmacy staff 
• Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA 
• Participate in clinic huddles and provide feedback to support care improvement 
• Adhere to GBCHC policies, protocols, and scheduling procedures 

Support Team

• Medical Coordinator: On-site clinical operations support 
• Volunteer Nurses: Available during clinic sessions 
• Pre-Professional Scribe Volunteer: Trained to assist with documentation in AthenaHealth EMR 

Technology and Tools

• EMR System: AthenaHealth (training and login credentials provided) 
• Volunteer Scheduling: VSP Volunteer Management Software 
• Scribes: Pre-health volunteers trained to support real-time charting and documentation 

Qualifications

• Current licensure as MD, DO, NP, or PA in the state of Michigan
• Active DEA license if prescribing controlled substances 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based care environment 
• Commitment to health equity and service to uninsured communities

Commitment

• Minimum of two to three 4-hour shifts per month preferred 
• Willingness to complete onboarding process, EMR training, and HIPAA documentation 
• Participation in clinic communications and feedback surveys

Role Summary

As a volunteer phlebotomist at GBCHC, you are responsible for collecting blood specimens accurately, safely, and compassionately to support diagnosis and monitoring for uninsured and underserved patients. You will also support coordination of lab workflows in accordance with physician orders and clinic protocols.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using appropriate techniques

• Verify patient identity and orders in AthenaHealth EMR prior to specimen collection

• Properly label, document, and prepare specimens for courier pick-up and processing

• Record collection times and completion in AthenaHealth

• Follow standard precautions and infection control practices

• Maintain cleanliness and stock in phlebotomy/lab area

• Collaborate with the Medical Coordinator and clinical team to ensure timely collection

• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

• Report equipment concerns, sharps incidents, or lab issues immediately to clinic leadership

Technology and Tools:

• EMR System: AthenaHealth (training and login credentials provided)

• Lab Courier System: Coordination of specimen pick-up per scheduled routes

• Supplies & Safety Equipment: Sharps containers, gloves, PPE, lab requisitions

Qualifications:

• Current phlebotomy certification or licensure (CPT or equivalent preferred)

• Prior experience in outpatient, hospital, or lab setting strongly preferred

• Familiarity with bloodborne pathogen protocols

• Ability to remain calm and professional with a diverse patient population

• Strong communication and attention to detail

Commitment:

• A minimum of two to three 4-hour shifts per month preferred

• Successful completion of GBCHC orientation, HIPAA training, and phlebotomy competency checklist

• Adherence to clinic safety standards and lab workflows

Pharmacists are needed during medical clinic hours to supervise the filling of prescriptions from our pharmacy for those prescriptions written during clinic, as well as the mentoring of future pharmacists.

The GBCHC currently runs one big event each year – The Esteemed Women of Michigan luncheon, honoring women in Michigan who have worked to make appositive impact on the world around them.
