To improve and save lives through compassionate care, community engagement and advocacy for animals.

We rescue shelter dogs, train them in our prison programs, pair them with veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Traumatic Brain Injury, and continue their training to be service dogs. By doing this, we are Rescuing One to Heal Another!

Our nonprofit organization focuses on raising awareness of the mounting homeless and stray dog epidemic in Detroit, along with advocating for humane rescue alternatives such as no-kill sheltering, foster care and adoptions, pet identification and healthy pet population control through spay and neutering.

In 1991 the Huron County Nature Center, Inc. was formed with the mission of preserving the center for the enjoyment and education of the public.
