Metro Food Rescue
6928 E Knollwood Cir, West Bloomfield Township, MI 48322
| Our mission | To redirect food that would otherwise get discarded to those who need it. |

| What we do | In 2021, we rescued one million pounds of food that would have been thrown away and delivered it to distribution sites from Westland to West Bloomfield. Now, we have trucks on the road 6 days a week, picking up food and dropping it off, in partnership with more than 40 partner food banks. We also work with a growing list of food donors from big box stores to, Bimbo Bread Company to, Farmers Markets to, schools. A large share of donated food actually comes from excess at food pantries. To help solve that problem we redistribute food from pantries to other pantries with different volumes or populations. |

| How you help | We have many options we can discuss, sandwich making events, soup kit making events and more. All these events are fun family friendly and help to feed so many neighbors in need. Also, as a small non-profit, we depend on like-minded people like you to sustain our mission. A tax deductible gift of any size is sorely needed and much appreciated. |

| About us | Metro Food Rescue started with a simple idea. Waste Less and Feed More. With more than 40% of food in this country destined for landfills and an ever-increasing number of food insecure households in Metro Detroit, our mission has never been more critical, and has only been exacerbated by the COVID crisis. We rescue food that would otherwise be discarded and deliver it to food pantries throughout the Detroit area. Because of the growing need we complement and supplement the region’s major food-focused organizations. |
