Our mission

The Detroit Public Theatre produces nationally recognized plays and programs with world-class writers, directors, actors, and designers in the heart of Midtown Detroit’s thriving cultural district. We create bold, relevant work that illuminates the thrills, joys, and challenges of our shared human experience.
Opportunities

Volunteer Ushers

Volunteer ushers work with front-of-house staff to welcome, guide, and ensure the safety and comfort of all patrons. Volunteer ushers are welcome to watch the performances they usher, provided those performances are not sold out. In the event of a sell out, each volunteer usher will be given a complimentary ticket to another performance of that show.

As ambassadors for DPT, Volunteer Ushers play a critical role in ensuring patrons, donors, artists, students, staff, and all guests enjoy an exceptional experience at every performance and event. Your support is allowing us to create, innovate, and share productions and community programming.
