Our mission

A gift of time and caring support to adults with persistent health needs and their families.

Opportunities

Fundraising Event Support

1. Work with staff members, event committee members, and other
volunteers as instructed. This is especially important if the event requires
a State of Michigan Lottery License, such as the Purse Party Bingo, or a
raffle.
2. Prepare for the event. Consider what you might want to bring with you. Be familiar with the services we offer and how others could help. For
example: if you are helping at an information booth, be able to describe
our services, take down the person’s name and number if they are
interested in receiving a call from the office, and know when the next
Respite Volunteer Training will be held. Staff will send basic information
to have at the booth.

2. With the pastor, recruit volunteers from all adult age groups within the
Church, and among friends of the church.
3. Use Respite Volunteer staff for information concerning community
resources, the library etc.
4. Be responsible to, and report on the efforts of the church to the Executive
Director, as well as to the pastor and Church Secretary about Respite
Volunteer information. *(many church secretaries allow RVS to send e-
mail updates of Volunteer Trainings and RVS events to be included in
church newsletters and bulletins)

How you help

We continue to emphasize the importance of recruiting and training new volunteers to help fulfill the demand for respite services. These additional volunteers help shorten our waiting list and increase the number of patients we are able to serve in a timely manner.

About us

The respite provided will hopefully lift some of the burden from the shoulders of loving, giving families for a brief time. Thus, enabling them to return to their loved one rested and renewed to resume care.
